Experience Swiss urban art
As the name suggests, urban art can usually be found in an urban context. The concept therefore fits Zurich Airport in two ways: the microcosm of the airport itself and the Circle as a new, urban district.
Find out more about the three Swiss artists and the works they designed specially for the airport below.
Sarah «SAFU» Furrer
Swiss-born artist Sarah Furrer, known as "SAFU", lives and works in Zurich. In her works, she combines illustrations and graphic design to create a distinctive style.
SAFU's artwork shows the interplay between the moon, humans, animals and nature. Among other things, the lunar cycle has an impact on day and night and everything connected with it. Thus, the artwork, seen from left to right, depicts the circle of a day. The moth and the closed flower symbolise the night and are transferred by the figure in the middle to day, which is depicted as an open flower and bee, both animals that can cover long distances.
A poem by a friend of the artist describes the idea perfectly:
The Circle
of day and night
moon and water
moth and bee
traversing the globe
circling the sun
