Between Terminal 1 and 2
A new central security check building has been built in from 2009 until 2011 between Terminals 1 and 2 and the Airside Center to house the security check points at Zurich Airport.
With its four security check levels, this new facility determines and simplifies the routes taken by departing passengers.
Through the clear-cut geometry, transparency and spacious feel of its architecture, the efficiently modelled building successfully embodies the „Swissness“ which is the hallmark of Zurich Airport.
Full operational flexibility is guaranteed by vertical links between the separate main and spillover levels. The building can be accessed from Terminal 1 or 2, in either case via a single entrance. On the second and third main levels of the new building the commercial zones have been extended and linked to the existing ones in the Airside Center.
