Aircraft maintenance tour
This tour visits the different areas of aircraft maintenance. The group will be accompanied by an experienced guide throughout the tour. The guides are either current or retired employees of SR Technics or SWISS.
Arrival 2 is the meeting point, followed by the security check. The group will then walk to Observation Deck B, from where a bus will transfer them to the maintenance area.
The first stop is the logistics area, where the engines are subjected to an incoming inspection or prepared for transport to the customer.
The next stop is the SR Technics workshop. Here, countless individual parts are checked, cleaned and assembled. The tour guide explains what they are used for, what materials they are made of, and what special care must be taken. Finally, the assembly of the engines takes place in another area of the workshop. The individual parts are collected and assembled. Guests can witness how this is done and learn how the checks on the work steps are carried out.
The group moves on to visit hangars 1, 2 and 3, where large and small aircraft are maintained. This is another highlight of the tour. Hangars 2 and 3 are operated by SWISS. In the impressive hangar 3, there is space for up to four wide-body aircraft. These can be viewed at close range and the tour guide will present a range of interesting details. Hangar 3 is the last stop on the tour. From there, the group travels by bus back to the observation deck, where the tour ends.
The tour of SR Technics and SWISS may vary. Depending on the maintenance work taking place, the guides adjust the tour to be able to show particularly interesting work. Occasionally, there is enough time to visit the wheel and brake workshop as well. The tour of SR Technics and SWISS takes more than two hours on foot.
